In this page you'll find all kinds of stuff to help you create your own game. Always either Open Source or Freeware. If you think there's something missing, don't hesitate to suggest it!
I'm uploading some of the files myself as mirror, but, I can't guarantee they will be the latest version. You're encouraged to check the creator's website yourself!

Middlewares

Game Engines

  • Löve2D (Open Source) - Lua based 3D accelerated multi-platform 2D game engine. A personal favorite. It's still in Beta, but ready to use. Kudos for the unnecessary umlaut.
  • flixel (Freeware) - ActionScript based framework for Flash games based on bitmaps/raster graphics.
  • FlashPunk (Freeware) - Another ActionScript based framework for Flash games, also, based on raster graphics.

Modelling

  • Blender (Open Source) - The Open Source 3D modelling tool. Very powerful, although a bit hard to learn, especially because of its particular interface. Intuitive once you get to know it.

Graphics Editing

  • GIMP (Open Source) - One of the most powerful Open Source image editors, if not the most.

Game Art

  • The RL Tiles (Public Domain) - Free 2D graphics for dungeon crawling games and roguelikes.
  • TomeTik (Creative Commons) - TomeTik is a roguelike itself, based on ToME. Its art is free to download, modify and re-use in any kind of project.
  • OpenGameArt.org (Different licenses, CC, GPL...) - Tons of free sprites, tiles, vector art and all kind of graphics, including 3D models.
